Canongate recently published an article on their website reviewing Merchiston Publishing and the release of ‘The Thirty-Nine Steps’. Also mentioned were ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ and ‘The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner’.

Progress Update

Information on the venue has been updated, and can be found on the right-hand side of the page.

The highlights of the evening have also advanced, with Richard Holloway confirming his attendance. Cate James, the illustrator for the project, will also be attending, and both Professor Alistair McCleary and Dr Valentina Bold will be saying a few words.

Here is a sample of the menu which will be on offer at the launch. The menu is a fusion of styles, but retains an element of traditional Scottish cuisine which matches the overall theme of the launch.

Savoury

Rustic Pizza
with Scottish seasonal organic vegetables and Scottish cheeses
A distinctive Scottish take on the classic Italian dish

Mushroom and Celeriac Tart
with cream garlic sauce topped with Parmesan and Rosemary

Haggis Tempura
with a Whiskey and mayonnaise sauce
Draws on the traditional Scottish dish and ingredients but with a modern twist

Sweet

Mini Mince Pies 

Organic Empire Biscuits

White Chocolate, Cinnamon and Vanilla cupcakes
with white chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla frosting

Dark Chocolate and Vanilla cupcakes
with dark chocolate and vanilla frosting
